Welcome, Parents and Upcoming 9th Graders to Blue Ridge Virtual Governor’s School (BRVGS), and congratulations on your acceptance!  We are looking forward to working with all of our new BRVGS students and parents next year and beyond.

Parents, we request that you review the BRVGS Parent Orientation Packet found by clicking here.  The packet contains information on the BRVGS program, as well as policies and expectations for students.

BRVGS students will need to complete a summer work packet to prepare them for BRVGS World History next year.  The packet, which can be found by clicking on the BRVGS World History Summer Work Packet, must be completed prior to the first day of school.

Any questions regarding the Parent Orientation Packet or the World History Summer Work Packet can be addressed to Kristi Bunovich, BRVGS Administrative Specialist, at

Please note that students may attend the “other” Orientation (the one not designated for their school), in the event of a schedule conflict.  Transportation will not be provided to the Orientation not designated for your child’s school, so please plan to bring and pick up your child. Also 9th grade BRVGS teachers from each school will attend only the designated orientation for their county and will not attend the other orientation.

We ask that all parents of new BRVGS students complete the RSVP form found by clicking here.

Here are a few details concerning our Orientation:

  • BRVGS Freshman Orientation is for students and teachers only between 10:00 and 2:30.

  • The purpose of the Freshman Orientation is to introduce new students to their classmates from other BRVGS districts, to provide an overview of their upcoming BRVGS World History course, to get them started with BRVGS technology, and to begin student training on some of the learning skills specific to BRVGS.

  • BRVGS invites parents who are picking up their child to attend a brief Parent/Student Information Session at 2:30, immediately following the Freshman Orientation.  Information will include BRVGS expectations for students, “How to find important BRVGS information, dates, etc.,” and time for parent questions.  The information session will be approximately 30 minutes. Attendance is not required.

Transportation is only provided for students attending the Orientation designated for their county:

  • Parents may bring students directly and pick up students, but will need to indicate that on the RSVP form. If transportation changes happen, please contact BRVGS at to inform us of that of that before the orientation.

  • Students attending the Orientation will be expected to be at their high school no later than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time.

  • Students MUST bring a completed and signed parent permission form with them on the day of the Orientation to board the bus.

Please feel free to contact Kristi Bunovich ( or me with any questions you might have regarding the information above.  Again, we look forward to working with our new students and parents in the 2018-19 school year, and hope that you all have a wonderful summer!
